Home->FAQ->What is A-BUS

What is A-BUS?

Wiring homes for A-BUS is simple – only one CAT 5 cable is required between the hub and the A-BUS power module in each room or zone.

Since every A-BUS power module has its own amplification each zone has infinitely variable volume leaving the main system speakers sound quality unaffected.

A-BUS CAT 5 wiring is so easy and economical, builders and home owners can wire every room for audio giving homeowners greater flexibility for the future. Building A-BUS-wired homes now makes them an asset for future expansion and upgrades.

The beauty of A-BUS is simplicity itself.

The signal CAT 5 cable that's required to each room carries

  • Full frequency audio signal

  • System power for the amplifiers and keypads

  • IR (infrareds) data for remote control of the main system

  • System status through the built-in Status LED.

    Wiring is simple:one CAT 5 cable goes to each room's amplified keypad from the main system. Cable runs can be up to 50m(150 feet). Speaker wire should be run from the keypad to in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. For future considerations, CAT 5 should also be run in parallel to the speaker cable.

  • Connecting A-BUS is really easy with CAT 5. All behind-the-wall connections are punchdowns and surface connectors are RJ-45 sockets. Connecting A-BUS after pre-wire is truly plug and play.
